ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - An Anchorage jury has convicted a 24-year-old man of first-degree murder and kidnapping in the death of his ex-girlfriend in 2012.

The Alaska Dispatch News (https://bit.ly/1BUyJU2) reports Bukurim Miftari (BOO’-kur-im mif-TAR’-ee), known to friends and family as “Buki,” also was convicted of evidence tampering in the death of 30-year-old Kristen Reid.

Reid on Sept. 17, 2012, was found mortally wounded and nearly naked in a ditch in midtown Anchorage. She had been shot in the head.

Police were alerted to the scene by a passer-by who spotted Miftari’s sport utility vehicle in the middle of Fairbanks Street. A bullet had pierced the windshield and blood was found inside.

Prosecutors say Reid was ending a relationship with Miftari and that he was driven by jealousy to kidnap and kill her.
