HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) - A northeast Missouri man is facing charges for allegedly attacking a man with what police describe as a “hatchet-style tool.”

Police say the attack occurred Monday when a 25-year-old man attacked a 55-year-old man in Hannibal. The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Columbia with severe injuries.

Formal charges have not been filed but the suspect is jailed on 24-hour hold. An investigation continues.
