PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police say a customer getting a haircut at a South Providence barbershop was attacked last week by a man with a baseball bat.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1AjmrRk ) 22-year-old Jordan Jones of North Smithfield told police he was at PR Hair Salon and Barber Shop on Broad Street Friday afternoon when four or five men wearing hooded jackets came in. Capt. Michael Correia says one hit him in the head with a bat and then kept hitting him as he fell from the barber’s chair. The men ran out.

Jones was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for injuries to his face and hand but was later released. No one else was injured.

Jones told police he didn’t recognize the men or know why they attacked him.
