FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - A Central California man may spend the rest of his life behind bars following his conviction in the strangling death of his 41-year-old wife.

A Fresno County jury found 37-year-old Keith Beyer guilty Monday of murder. He was also convicted of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl at gunpoint before killing his wife.

Authorities say Beyer tied a shoelace from one of his boots around his wife’s neck in November 2012.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1weC5OF) Beyer told his grandmother and police he killed his wife. He told the judge at his arraignment he wanted the death penalty.

Beyer will be sentenced by Fresno County Superior Court Judge Denise Whitehead on Jan. 14. He faces life without parole and four life sentences.
