ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico authorities have identified the man shot by officers after fleeing from Albuquerque to Los Lunas and barricading himself in his car.

State Police say he’s 30-year-old Christopher Gallegos of Albuquerque.

The incident closed down Interstate 25 in both directions in Los Lunas for hours Saturday.

Police say that after the pursuit in which officers were able to blow out Gallegos’s tires with spike strips, Gallegos at some point pointed a gun in the officers’ direction.

Two state police officers fired their duty rifles, striking Gallegos.

He was transported to an Albuquerque hospital and remains in stable condition.

Police say investigators found a 9mm pistol on Gallegos and spent shell casings in his car.
