PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A woman being sentenced in Portland for spitting on a TriMet bus driver and ripping out the hair of a police officer told the judge to forget about sentencing her to probation.

The 30-year-old woman, Eucharia Nwerem, told Multnomah County Circuit Judge Eric Bloch she wanted to go straight to prison because of her rocky record of complying with probation.

The Oregonian reports ( https://is.gd/mCLoyW ) the judge agreed Monday and sentenced her to 19 months in prison, plus two years of post-prison supervision.

She pleaded guilty last month to assaulting a public safety officer, resisting arrest and interfering with public transportation during a dispute over a bus fare.
