AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Texas Longhorns have given sophomore guard Damarcus Croaker an unconditional release from his scholarship.

The University of Texas at Austin announced the move in a tersely worded statement Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard from Jones High School in Orlando, Florida, had been averaging just 9.4 minutes and 1.6 points playing in just five of the Longhorns’ nine games so far. He was just 3-of-10 shooting from the field, scoring eight points with five rebounds and three assists. He also has had three turnovers.

That’s a drop-off from his freshman season, when he averaged 3.3 points in 9.5 minutes per game, playing in 33 games and starting twice, against BYU and DePaul. He also earned a spot on the Spring 2014 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
