SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Syracuse say one man is dead and another is hospitalized after they were hit by gunfire while walking on a street on the city’s south side.

Officers say the men were walking along Midland Avenue around 7 p.m. Tuesday when shots were fired from a passing vehicle.

A man around 30 years old was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other victim suffered a non-life-threatening wound and was treated at the same hospital.

No arrests have been announced.

Police say a second shooting occurred about two hours later on Hope Avenue, where a 21-year-old was shot in the leg. Police say the shots may have been fired from a vehicle, but they don’t know yet if the two shootings are related.
