SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Three people are in jail for allegedly participating in a forgery ring that netted nearly $12,000.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says an investigation began in November when numerous counterfeit checks were cashed under the name of a local restaurant.

KSLA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1GrtwTt ) 26-year-old Corey Ashley and 23-year-old Shatrina Washington were recruited to cash the counterfeit checks. A third woman, 32-year-old Setorra Campbell, drove them to different businesses to cash the checks, then paid them from the proceeds, keeping most of the money.

Washington, who worked at the restaurant named on the checks, allegedly gave Campbell a copy of her payroll check so it could be counterfeited.

Washington and Campbell each face 11 counts of forgery while Ashley faces 10 counts of forgery and one count of resisting an officer.
