TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Pierce County’s two biggest health care providers hope to build a $41 million, 120-bed psychiatric hospital in Tacoma.

The joint nonprofit venture between the CHI Franciscan and MultiCare health systems is the fourth such proposal for inpatient psychiatric care in Pierce County.

The News Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1vZCJuk) three others are seeking approval from the state Health Department. They are Springstone LLC, a Kentucky-based company; BHC Fairfax Hospital Inc., which runs a psychiatric hospital in Kirkland; and Signature Health Care Services LLC, which operates health care facilities in the East.
