NEW YORK (AP) - The Fire Department says three businesses have been destroyed and others are damaged in a Bronx blaze.

Three people suffered minor injuries.

The fire broke out in Morris Heights around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. It took hours to get it under control.

Heavy smoke filled the area. The emergency response also snarled rush-hour traffic.

Some firefighters remained at the scene at midday to make sure it didn’t flare up again.
