WILSON, N.C. (AP) - An accountant has been accused of embezzling from the Wilson Country Club.

The Wilson Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/1qXYm2v ) Wednesday that 39-year-old Debra Hill Bedford of Goldsboro has been charged with seven counts of embezzlement and two counts of identity fraud.

Police have been investigating since receiving a complaint earlier this month. Sgt. Steve Stroud says the club manager and board members contacted authorities after finding financial discrepancies.

The paper says Bedford was released from jail after posting a $25,000 secured bond. It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney.

Club officials say Bedford had been their accountant for more than two years and no longer worked there as of last month.
