ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged a 59-year-old Albany man with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his girlfriend last weekend.

Albany police say Robert Lake entered the emergency room at the Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center on Sunday night and told hospital staff that there was a dead person inside his apartment.

When police got to the apartment, the found 56-year-old Latisha Alzaid had been stabbed to death.

Police say Lake had cuts to his neck and both wrists.

He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and is being held in Albany County Jail. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
