MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A judge in Mobile set bond at $500,000 for a father charged with murder and a sex crime in the slaying of his 8-year-old daughter.

District Court Judge Bob Sherling says Hiawatha Robinson must post bond of $250,000 each on charges of murder and sodomy before he can leave jail.

The 38-year-old Robinson was arrested Monday in the death of daughter Hiawayi Robinson. He appeared in court during a hearing Tuesday.

The girl’s body was found in Prichard three months to the day before the arrest. Autopsy results showed the girl had been sexually assaulted.

The judge appointed a defense attorney for Robinson but the man didn’t enter a plea to the charges.

Robinson participated in searches for his daughter after she went missing in September.
