BATAVIA, N.Y. (AP) - The former treasurer of an upstate New York fire department has pleaded guilty to stealing $46,000 to finance a gambling habit.

New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says 61-year-old Dennis Snow is expected to pay back the money after pleading guilty in Genesee County Court Tuesday to grand larceny and forgery.

Snow was treasurer of the Le Roy Fire Department when the thefts took place between 2007 and 2013. Investigators say Snow was gambling at the time and used money from the department to cover his personal bills and debts.

He’ll be sentenced in February.
