CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says the Senate has confirmed Judge Joan Azrack to serve as a U.S. District Court judge for the Eastern District of New York. The district includes the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, as well as Long Island.

Azrack will serve at the U.S. District courthouse in Central Islip. She is replacing Judge Joanna Seybert.

Her nomination was confirmed Tuesday night.

Azrack is currently a magistrate judge for the Eastern District.

She also serves as the supervising program judge for the U.S. Pretrial Services Agency.

She is a judicial member of the Eastern District of New York budget committee and a judicial member of the William C. Conner Intellectual Property Court.
