SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 33-year-old Utah mother has been sentenced to a year in jail after she pleaded no contest to allegations that she fed alcohol to her then-3-year-old daughter.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Raquel Borce (Bore-see) on one count of child abuse.

KUTV reports (https://bit.ly/1GRk1vo) Borce denied feeding her daughter alcohol but admitted it happened under her watch. The girl has cerebral palsy and is unable to walk or talk.

Court documents show paramedics found the girl drunk and unresponsive in April when they were called to Borce’s home.

Hospital staff determined the girl’s blood alcohol level was nearly 12 times the legal limit for an adult. The girl recovered.

Borce’s attorney Paul Remy says his client is sorry and says she should have been more diligent in watching her daughter.
