DEERFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A former information technology professional at a western Massachusetts school alleges racial discrimination in a lawsuit against the district.

Sandy Moya said in his suit filed against Frontier Regional School in Deerfield that his former co-workers treated him unfairly due to his Hispanic descent, resulting in his wrongful termination.

The Recorder (https://bit.ly/13xTJlH ) reports that the trial is scheduled for February 2016.

Moya, who was born in the Dominican Republic, worked for Frontier for seven years as an IT professional until August 2013, when he was fired.

The suit claims an assistant principal called Moya “violent, lazy and unproductive” … “in line with people of Mr. Moya’s race.”

Frontier denied the allegations through its lawyer.

Frontier serves students in grades 7 through 12 from Deerfield, Sunderland, Whately and Conway.
