HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - An attorney has entered a not-guilty plea for a Kentucky man accused of killing a great-grandmother found in the trunk of her car in 2012 in southwestern Ohio.

A Butler County Common Pleas Court judge set bond Tuesday at $5 million for 56-year-old Daniel French of Berea, Kentucky. He was indicted this month on aggravated murder and other charges including tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. He was arrested last week in Kentucky and waived extradition to Ohio.

Authorities found the body of 87-year-old Barbara Howe of Monroe in her car at an apartment complex a few miles from the retirement village where she lived.

The Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News (https://bit.ly/1GqXVBy ) reports that the judge appointed counsel for French after he said he couldn’t afford an attorney.
