CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) - Dollar Tree Stores Inc. faces civil penalties totaling $103,000 for workplace safety violations at a Delaware store.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Wednesday inspectors saw overhead boxes fall on a store employee in New Castle, Delaware, during a June visit.

The inspectors cited Virginia-based Dollar Tree for a willful violation of improperly stored boxes. The company also received a repeated citation for failure to keep the work area around electrical panels clear.

OSHA says a repeated citation is issued when an employer has received a citation for a similar violation within the last five years.

Dollar Tree says it remains committed to maintaining a safe work environment for associates in its stores.

Dollar Tree can contest the citations with the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
