LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say two parents who abducted their four children from their grandmother’s house in Los Angeles and took them to the Mexican border have been sentenced to prison.

Los Angeles County prosecutors said Tuesday that 28-year-old Enrique Felix has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading no contest to kidnapping and child stealing.

The mother, 28-year-old Rose Chairez, received a five-year prison sentence that was suspended and she’ll serve formal probation instead.

An Amber Alert had been issued for the four kids in March before they were found.

Authorities said the children had been in in protective custody with their grandmother because their father was physically abusive to them and their mother.
