CANASTOTA, N.Y. (AP) - State park police are looking for a snowmobiler involved in a hit-and-run accident that injured a man and his dog.

The accident happened around 5:15 p.m. Friday on the Old Erie Canal multi-use path in Canastota. Police say a snowmobile driver hit a 53-year-old man and the dog he was walking.

A witness tells police the snowmobiler flew off his sled and was knocked out cold. When he came to, he ran to the sled and drove away.

Police said the pedestrian remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The dog was treated by a Syracuse veterinarian and released.

The snowmobile driver is described as a white man who was riding a yellow Ski-Doo with a one-up seat.

State park police have asked that anyone with information call Officer O’Hora at 315-492-6422.
