SHELTON, Wash. (AP) - Bail was set at $10,000 for an 80-year-old Shelton, Washington, man arrested in the fatal shooting of a 51-year-old acquaintance.

Charles Anderson was arrested for investigation of second-degree murder in the Tuesday evening shooting at a rural residence near Shelton. Anderson says Scott Jeffries of Shelton attacked him during an altercation.

KING-TV reports (https://is.gd/NJcneK ) the two men had been drinking and hitting golf balls around Anderson’s trailer before they got into an argument.

Anderson’s public defender, Ron Sergi, says the shooting was self-defense.

After Anderson’s initial court appearance Wednesday, Mason County Prosecutor Mike Dorcy said it’s possible the man might not face any charges. Dorcy says he wants to see autopsy results and review an interview with another friend who had been at the trailer before the shooting.
