TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fire at an assisted living facility in Taylorsville.

Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman tells local media outlets that a fire started early Wednesday in the room of a resident of A New Outlook.

More than two dozen people live at the home, and none were seriously hurt.

Officers say one of the home’s two employees was at a store when the fire started. Bowman says the other fled when he realized law enforcement was coming in response to the fire.

Bowman says 28-year-old Brandon Shane Parsons of Taylorsville returned later and was served an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. His bond was set at $1,400, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.

The center reopened about an hour after the fire.
