SAN DIEGO (AP) - A Delta Sigma Phi fraternity official says only one member of its San Diego State University chapter waved a sex toy at a sexual assault awareness march last month.

The fraternity’s executive director, Patrick Jessee, told The Associated Press in a statement Thursday that the national organization conducted its own investigation into the incident and found one member made a “poor and embarrassing decision.”

Organizers of the “Take Back the Night” event say participants also endured obscenities and tossed eggs.

Jessee says Delta Sigma Phi members were not involved in those incidents.

SDSU officials say the fraternity chapter was closed because of the harassment of the march and other misconduct. But they would not discuss specifics of the harassment case.
