LUFKIN, Texas (AP) - An East Texas jury has sentenced the parents of an infant who died last year of malnutrition and dehydration.

An Angelina County jury took a little more than an hour on Wednesday to find 19-year-old DeQuisha Jackson and 20-year-old Isaiah Tolliver guilty. Jackson was sentenced to 15 years in state jail for manslaughter. Tollivar was sentenced to 2 years in jail for endangering a child by omission.

The couple was arrested in October 2013 after 2-month-old Imauri (uh-MAR’-ee) Jackson died at their home. Autopsy results indicated the baby weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces at birth and 5 pounds, 6 ounces when he died. The death was ruled a homicide due to neglect.
