WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Black Hawk County jury has found a former Waterloo man guilty of molesting a young girl.

The Waterloo-Cedar Fall Courier reports (https://bit.ly/13gc2Lh ) that 38-year-old Ivan Fernando Fierro was convicted Friday of second-degree sexual abuse. He faces up to 25 years in prison when he’s sentenced later.

Prosecutors say Fierro fondled a girl on several occasions in Waterloo between 2008 and 2010 when she was between 9 and 11 years old. Authorities say the girl didn’t tell her mother until after Fierro moved to Missouri. He was arrested in March.

Federal immigration officials also have action pending against Fierro, a citizen of Mexico. Authorities say Fierro was deported from the United States in 1999, and has used two aliases in the past.
