HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A 42-year-old Hardeeville man has been arrested in a November shooting death in Jasper County.

Sheriff Gregory Jenkins tells local media outlets that Byron Singleton was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder and possession of a weapon in the commission of a violent crime.

Singleton is accused of shooting 41-year-old Dewayne Lamont Manuel, whose body was found in a yard by friends and family on Nov. 12.

Online records showed Jenkins was in jail Thursday, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney. Authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting.
