GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - The Coastal Resource and Resiliency Center is seeking candidates to train as Peer Health Advocates to serve coastal Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida.

PHAs provide members of their communities with health information, encourage healthy lifestyles and help people get health services.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1z0qqjw ) applications must be submitted by Jan. 23 and are available at coastalresourcecenter.org/pha_training.html

Those who are selected will attend a three-day training session Feb. 22-25 at the Courtyard Beachfront Marriott Gulfport, Mississippi. Lodging and training costs are paid by the Coastal Resource and Resiliency Center.

Trainees will be given an allowance for travel and meal expenses and a modest stipend for participating.
