CINCINNATI (AP) - The Hamilton County sheriff says an inmate who briefly escaped from his room at a Cincinnati hospital while being treated for a medical condition was taken back into custody by hospital security after a search of the grounds.

A statement from the sheriff says 37-year-old Daniel J. Dickerson of Colerain Township bolted from the University of Cincinnati Hospital late Wednesday wearing a white hospital gown and orange and white striped pants. The sheriff says a thorough search around the facility led to a security officer apprehending Dickerson. No further details were released.

The sheriff says Dickerson had been held at the county’s justice center for an alleged probation violation after a theft offense.
