NEW YORK (AP) - Elvar Fridriksson scored 17 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer midway through the second half, to lead LIU Brooklyn to a 69-58 win over Florida International on Thursday night.

Gerrell Martin contributed 15 points, including three 3-pointers, Joel Hernandez added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Martin Hermannsson had 10 points for LIU Brooklyn (3-6), which has won three straight games.

Florida International (6-5) briefly took the lead in the second half with a 5-0 spurt capped by a Dominique Williams layup that made it 43-39 with 12:36 to go. But the Blackbirds responded with a 10-2 run that included back-to-back 3-pointers from Fridriksson to take retake control and held on down the stretch.

Both teams shot comparably from the floor but LIU Brooklyn sealed it at the free throw line, going 16 of 24 to FIU’s 4 of 9.

Dennis Mavin led FIU with 12 points and seven rebounds.
