TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey’s unemployment rate has hit its lowest mark in six years.

The state government on Thursday released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that shows the state’s unemployment rate at 6.4 percent for November.

That’s down from 6.6 percent the month before.

The gains came as economy added 6,700 jobs even as the number of job-seekers increased.

Most of the new jobs were in the private sector, though federal government employment also increased in the state.

The state’s rate remains higher than the national rate for November of 5.8 percent.
