COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A Columbus company accused of selling bags of mulch that weren’t full will offer consumers a rebate for a free bag of mulch this spring under a settlement with the state.

Ohio’s attorney general says the settlement resolves allegations about the under-filled bags from Ohio Mulch Supply Inc.

The Department of Agriculture halted sales of certain bags last spring after random testing revealed the problem.

The company has said a faulty machine was removed to address the problem.

The attorney general says Ohio Mulch also has agreed to visually inspect its mulch-bagging machine daily and implement other quality assurance procedures under the settlement.
