SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - An ROTC sergeant at Black Hills State University has been found not guilty of raping a cadet in the program, but guilty of furnishing alcohol to an underage woman last spring.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/13D6KdF ) that 39-year-old Cesar Olaso was recently sentenced to serve three days in jail and spend a year on probation.

Olaso would have faced up to 25 years in prison had he been convicted on the rape charge.

Army Col. Lynna Speier says Olaso remains suspended from his ROTC duties pending a military review.
