MARION, S.C. (AP) - Officials say they expect the reopening of a Marion County amphitheater to create nearly 300 jobs over five years.

Marion County Economic Development Commission executive director Julie Norman says The Hartmann Group, based in Connecticut, is set to close on the 250-acre property this week.

The venue will be renamed Swampfox Entertainment Complex, and the group plans to hire 272 permanent employees over five years.

Norman says the jobs range from concessions staff to maintenance workers, event organizers and retailers.

The complex has 7,000 permanent theater seats and a lawn that can add more spectators. Officials plan to open the facility in May with a weeklong BikerFest.
