ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Children’s Museum has received a $1 million grant from the city of St. Paul to help fund its planned expansion and renovation.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports (https://bit.ly/1sCMZbS ) the city council approved the five-year grant from the city’s Cultural STAR program Wednesday. The museum is conducting a $28 million capital campaign to expand the facility.

The museum draws about 450,000 visitors annually and aims to increase attendance by 100,000 with the project, which would include nine new galleries.

The STAR program is funded by the city’s half-cent sales tax.
