BOSTON (AP) - The state’s sprawling transportation building in downtown Boston could be moving to a new location in the city.

The Boston Globe (https://bit.ly/1AfZ64Y ) reports that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation is negotiating to move its headquarters from Park Square to a $350 million development near Dudley Square in Roxbury as part of a continuing effort to revitalize the neighborhood.

The Boston Redevelopment Authority was expected to consider a land transfer on Thursday that would help facilitate the move.

A spokeswoman for the agency says Gov. Deval Patrick and other officials have been working to close the deal in the final weeks of his administration.

If the move does occur, officials expect the current building to attract significant interest in the private real estate market.
