SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Springfield man charged with fatally stabbing a Chicopee woman in 2011 will go to trial next fall.

The Republican (https://bit.ly/13f4YhB ) newspaper reports that a Hampden Superior Court judge on Wednesday scheduled 23-year-old Dennis Rosa-Roman’s murder trial for Oct. 27.

Twenty-year-old Amanda Plasse was found dead in her third-floor apartment in August 2011.

Her slaying remained unsolved for about two years until Rosa-Roman was tied to her death through DNA evidence. He was arrested in November 2013.

Rosa-Roman has been held without bail after pleading not guilty. His lawyer had sought to have documents in the case impounded.

Prosecutors haven’t disclosed a possible motive, but according to a police report Plasse suspected Rosa-Roman of breaking into her apartment several weeks before she was killed.
