NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Jeffrey Short scored 25 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, to help Norfolk State past Northern Arizona in an 81-62 win Friday night.

RaShid Gaston contributed 20 points and hauled in 11 rebounds, D’Shon Taylor added 13 points and Malik Thomas had eight points and 11 rebounds for Norfolk State (8-5), which shot 57.4 percent from the floor and sank 7 of 15 from beyond the arc. It was Short’s eighth-straight game in double figures.

The Spartans took control with a 13-2 run that was sparked by a Short layup and included a 3-pointer from D’Shon Taylor to close out the first half and take a 38-20 advantage into the break. The margin never fell below double figures over the final 20 minutes.

Aaseem Dixon led Northern Arizona (4-7) with 17 points, while Jaleni Neely added 12.
