POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 24-year-old man has died after he was shot on a Hudson Valley street earlier this week.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (https://pojonews.co/1r7myj1 ) that the city of Poughkeepsie Police Department says 911 dispatchers received reports of shots fired Wednesday night on Gifford Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the Poughkeepsie man had been taken in a private vehicle to MidHudson Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy showed he died from a single gunshot to the neck.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released.

Police say the shooting wasn’t a random act, but the motive remains unknown.
