SPRINGFIELD, N.J. (AP) - A police standoff in northern New Jersey has ended peacefully with the arrest of a man who had barricaded himself at the Villa Apartment complex in Springfield.

Authorities say 39-year-old Norwood Hill of New Providence was wanted over the weekend on charges of simple assault and making terroristic threats stemming from a domestic violence complaint.

Union County Prosecutor Grace Park says Hill barricaded himself in his common law wife’s apartment after an argument on Friday. She fled and a neighbor called police.

The Union County Emergency Response SWAT Team and Springfield police took Hill into custody.

He was being held on $50,000 bail and it wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
