GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - Authorities say an employee has died while working on a ship in Galveston.

The Houston Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1sNthj6 ) the worker fell about 30 feet to his death on Thursday. Galveston police spokesman Joshua Shirard says the man was employed by Malin International Ship repair and was working aboard the Western Monarch.

Shirard says the man was working from a ladder on the cable-laying ship when he lost his balance and fell, striking his head on a beam. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity hasn’t been released.

The company is conducting an investigation into the death. Police don’t suspect foul play.
