HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Marshall University says it will hold a public memorial service for President Stephen Kopp after students return to Huntington from the holiday break.

Marshall spokeswoman Ginny Painter says the service will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the Cam Henderson Center on the Marshall campus.

Kopp became ill at home and died Wednesday night at age 63. Painter says a private family service will be held Sunday. Beard Mortuary of Huntington is handling arrangements.

The university has set has set up a memorial website at https://www.marshall.edu/kopp-tribute .
