WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Police in Wilmington say a suspect faces charges in the death of a man who was shot and killed this week.

Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous tells local media outlets that 26-year-old Raheem Akbar Shabazz Floyd of Wilmington was arrested on Thursday. He is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in the shooting of 20-year-old Shaquan Malique Boston.

Boston was shot and killed while standing in a driveway in downtown Wilmington on Tuesday. It was not immediately known if Floyd had an attorney.

Floyd was charged in January with child abuse and resisting arrest. Authorities allege he left a newborn child on a street to run from officers trying to serve him with a warrant for probation violations.
