GAMBRILLS, Md. (AP) - Several teenagers have been arrested after a large fight at Arundel High School in Gambrills that put the school on lock down.

In an email sent to parents, school Principal Sharon Stratton says the fight began between two girls about 10:25 a.m. Friday. It escalated to involve about 10 girls and a large congregation of students.

The principal says she ordered the school into lockdown as a precaution to restore calm in the building. The lockdown was lifted about an hour later.

Stratton says additional police officers will remain at the school as a precaution Friday.
