SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah’s unemployment rate remained steady last month at 3.6 percent.

New jobless numbers from Utah’s Department of Workforce Services on Friday show November’s rate remained well below the national unemployment rate of 5.8 percent.

Workforce Services reports about 51,400 Utah residents were out of work in November and looking for a job.

Economist Carrie Mayne says seasonal hiring has been steady, with about 4,200 retail jobs added and about 2,100 arts, entertainment and recreation positions created.

Mayne says late and light snow has allowed for more construction jobs.

Workforce Service says jobs in the construction industry have increased about 9.6 percent over last year.
