GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - A Houston-area man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for breaking into his former girlfriend’s home and beating her until she gave him her jewelry.

The Galveston County Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1vfeWeD ) 49-year-old Henry Tobar of Texas City received 30 years for a robbery charge and 20 years for breaking a restraining order filed by the victim. A jury convicted Tobar in October in the 2013 attack.

The victim testified Tobar broke into her home and demanded her ring and necklace. She says he punched her in the face and attacked her until she gave up the ring. The attack fractured a bone near her eye.

Tobar has a prior felony conviction of breaking into his ex-wife’s home to steal her jewelry. Four women testified he had been violent toward them.
