BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police cadet class #93 has reported for training, beginning an intensive 20 weeks of defensive tactics, pursuit driving, firearms and ethics training.

WBRZ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1A9bimd ) the training started Sunday. When complete, the 72 cadets will earn the title of Louisiana State Trooper.

Louisiana State Police Superintendent, Col. Mike Edmonson says earning the badge is a privilege.

This is the second state police class to be held in six years, since the graduation of 46 troopers in spring of 2014.

State police say the training is so rigorous, they expect of the 72 cadets now in the training program, an estimated 20-to-30 will drop out before graduation.
