HELENA, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say the driver of a dump truck died after driving off a private road into a water-filled quarry in north-central Ohio.

It happened Monday in Helena, in Sandusky County. A sheriff’s office official says 46-year-old Darwin Glover was pronounced dead at a hospital in Fremont after rescue divers pulled him from the truck. The vehicle was submerged in 30 to 40 feet of water.

The sheriff’s office says it is trying to determine what caused the truck to leave the road. The heavy-duty Caterpillar truck was empty at the time.

Glover worked for an excavating company in Norwalk.

The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration also will investigate because the accident occurred in a quarry.
