MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Mesa say a bicyclist has died after he and another rider were struck by a vehicle that ran a red light.

Mesa police say a minivan heading south on Gilbert Road on Friday morning ran a red traffic light, hitting two people in a group riding across the street.

Mesa police say a 66-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.

The other victim, an 83-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with broken bones and internal injuries.

According to police, the 81-year-old man driving the minivan pulled over and walked back to the scene.

Investigators say impairment does not appear to be a factor. But the driver could face charges including causing serious physical injury or death by a moving violation.
